Fragments of the work of Aquila, Symmachus, and Theodotion are preserved, sometimes uniquely, in the margins of medieval Armenian biblical manuscripts, especially for the books of Samuel and Kings. This book provides a detailed analysis of these fragments in relation to the Old Greek and Hebrew texts. It presents an introduction to the Armenian resources and to the work of Origen, whence the fragments have come. Included are bibliographies and indexes of Armenian, Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Syriac, and Georgian words. This book makes a contribution not only to Armenian biblical studies but to the textual criticism of the Hebrew Bible and its Old Greek translation.

“it is a necessary reference for anyone involved in the study of the Armenian Bible or biblical exegesis.”
Journal of the Society for Armenian Studies

“Claude Cox … is quickly establishing himself as the leading authority on these Greek materials preserved in Armenian biblical versions.… [This work is] of real importance to Septuagint scholars, not just to students of the Armenian Bible.”
Catholic Biblical Quarterly

“There can be no doubt that Cox’s monograph indeed satisfies a long-standing desideratum.
